Emergency Dispatch Communications Dispatcher Ride

Hillsborough County's Emergency Dispatch Center (EDC) is an integral and vital component of Fire Rescue. These highly dedicated professionals are the initial step in the emergency 9-1-1 system. From fielding frantic 9-1-1 calls from the public to dispatching and keeping track of multiple emergency vehicles, EDC personnel have to think clearly under difficult circumstances and be the conduit from the field to the citizen.

EDC's primary mission is the receiving and dispatching emergency responses for medical and fire assistance in the unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County. It gives medical pre-arrival instructions in a continuing endeavor to provide an elevated level of care. In times of natural disaster and/or mass casualty emergencies, the section is responsible for coordinating all operations.
